This video demonstrates how to utilize Node-RED to define the behavior of the ESP8265 Infrared Transceiver microcontroller on the Home Assistant automation server.
The results show the potential use of Home Assistant as a universal remote control that can be accessed on a smartphone instead of having several different physical remote control units. In this case, multicolor LED strips are being directed to turn on and off, but the same principles can be used on many other appliances that have their own remote control.
